Factors affecting
November 15th, 2008
Factors affecting number plates. When estimating the value of a private number plate, many factors come into play . One of the main ones is exclusivity , say you want you initials XYC then you would prefer to have number 1 with them. The ways to get this are 1 XYC and XYC 1. It is also possible that only one of these two combinations exist and the other may only be available at auction. Having number 2 e.g. XYC 2 or 2 XYC ,although very nice says something about just not quite making it to the top, number 1 will always be the crem of the crop.

New average speed cameras
October 10th, 2008
New average speed cameras. Police are trialling new specs speed cameras which are networked together in a grid and communicate with each other. As a motorist enters such a grid his number plates are photographed and recorded with the time. It does not matter which road he leaves the grid by or even if he parks within the grid his average between any two cameras is computed and a fixed penalty is issued where appropriate.

law is becoming more complex and rigourously enforced
October 6th, 2008
Number plates law is becoming more complex and rigourously enforced by the police. The reason for this is the success the police are having with cameras to do their work. Number plates which are mis-spaced or mis-represented play havoc with their equipment and therefore have to be stamped out asap in order for the continued success of number plate recognition camera policing.

The Daily Telegraph ran a story about the registration
August 24th, 2008
The Daily Telegraph ran a story about the registration number LEW1S being bought by Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton for ?200k. In the following weeks Motorsports News it was reported that Lewis denied he had bought anypersonalised number plates at all. He said he wouldn’t pay even ?100 for a number plate never mind two hundred grand. As he is a tax exile and is not allowed to have a car registered in the U.K. it would seem to be true.
